On most Christmases, I rarely ever receive coins unless they are from my grandparents. However, this Christmas proved to be the exception to the rule. It would seem that my Aunt learned of my interest in ancient coins and gifted me a lovely Constantine Campgate Follis with a beautiful layer of desert patina. Which, in my opinion, arguably enhances its eye appeal. Regardless, this also my first example of a campgate and my second Constantine bronze. Constantine AE3 Follis, Antioch 326 A.D. Obverse: CONSTANTINVS AVG, laureate head right. Reverse: PROVIDEN-TIAE AVGG, campgate, two turrets, star above. Mintmark: SMANTΓ Diameter: 18mm Weight: 3.50g RIC VII, 71
