I found one in the wild once. It graded AG03 and I was tickled pink. Another one checked off my cherry picker list. Had a hard time selling it because of the low grade. Think I got $150 or so for it. But I know in AU these can go for $3k and up. Yours is a nice ANACS XF45, right? To be honest, yours should grade AU50 these days.
Very nice. Funny that a Liberty Seated coin created the clash on the Flying Eagle isn't it? I need to get one of these.
The dies contact each other leaving an imprint on one or both of the dies of the other die... and then go on strike more coins with that damage/imprint.
I think the question is.. How did a Flying Eagle Cent Clash on a Seated Quarter? We know how a clash occurs.
We won't ever know for sure how these happened but some feel that someone was playing around with the presses after hours. This is the matching cent.
