Get your GOOGLEs warmed up... A Magnificent Prize for someone who can show me a coin which is contemporary with Göbekli Tepe. Not sure what the prize may be, perhaps the Ark Of The Covenant, etc., but the challenge has been laid down... Ben
Looking at information from the site it dates to approximately 9,000-10,000 B.C. which is ancient! As far as an actual coin dating from that period, no way. A little research shows the closest thing to money at that time was cattle or grain. In other words: barter. So I have attached a picture of the "coin" of the day LOL.
OMG - look at that things *cough* - they are huge! That must have been worth a small fortune back then!
Yep - I would have gone to the SD coins show a few weeks back if I had been able to make a trip to Rapid for business. Before I took my last promotion I used to love going out there and heading up to Deadwood for some fun!
This is the only coin I could find from, I guess, that time period related to your initial post. Im sure its probably not correct but, I tried. Here's the article that goes with it. Scroll down to "Cadmus the Trader". http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~catshaman/09handman/0cadmus.htm
