I have several pages filled with Lincoln cent minor errors. Years ago (many) when I was a kid I bought a book that listed minors as well as majors. Is there a book on the market now that does this in addition to pricing them. I have filled letters, dates, mintmarks,RPM's, etc. and would love to find out where they headed in terms of todays values. I have not looked these up in over 30 years. Thanks for any help.
You might try this site; http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/date.php The values may have changed since the sites beginning.
The only one I have seen is not just cents, but other denominations, is Official Price Guide to Mint Errors by Alan Herbert. Jim
The values of all the ones you mentioned other than true repunched mintmarks (RPMs) have no value. They were hyped in years past by a book written by Spadone. We have come to know that all those minor die chips are common and are interesting but of no value. The toughest thing in the world for someone to do today is sit and evaluate coins that were piled up based upon that book then break the news that in reality, they have very little collector interest today. They represent the stages of a die as a die deteriorates so they are not errors or varieties. That is also why, with the exception of RPMs, they are not listed or priced in current books. Thanks, Bill
Thanks to everyone. The book I still have is the one mentioned by Spadone. I was'nt really expecting to make anything on them but had hoped to learn some more about them. Also I have the book by hebert. Just got it and it's good reading. Thanks again everyone.
This is a very informative book. I have the 3rd edition which pops up used occasionally on ebay or amazon. Here is the amazon listing for the 2nd edition. http://www.amazon.com/Error-Coin-En...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1237385934&sr=1-1 Maybe you can borrow a copy through your local public or college library's inter-library loan program before buying.
