The correct term is an incomplete planchet error. There are many forms of clips and like varieties, they’re all different. Curved clips, Straight clips, etc. Well this is a blowhole planchet flaw. The date is unknown but it’s from the early 1960’s. All that shows is the 196 but I know it’s early 1960’s. I just recently acquired this coin and it’s a nice addition to my error collection. Given the color it was well protected.
That's called a Blowhole Planchet Flaw. An Incomplete Ragged Planchet would be from the ragged end of coin stock sheet metal.
@paddyman98 Thank you for the correction. I was able to edit the title and thread to be correct. Last thing I want to do is confuse anyone. We have enough of that. lol Edited to correct
I wonder sometimes if my dad saw those types and just tossed them. Grrrr lol! He did not know. It’s a cool one.
I highly doubt it. Judging by some of the coins you’ve posted I think he would have kept them. Maybe not known the value or what they are but I think he would have kept them.
Not sure if the value but a lot more than I paid for them. I got three, all at the same time and at a great price.
When I read your reply I thought you meant my blow hole coin. Then I read it again and realized you were taking to Pam. Lol
I think this is the correct term used for this type of error. https://www.error-ref.com/ragged-perforations/.
