Hello all, Meow was just opening some of the extra heads/heads Sally Ride rolls Meow had. and found a greaser. Unlike all other greasers Meow has found over the years, this one had a small smear of actual grease. All the other greasers Meow found just had grease through images and or a very light coat if grease. This one had a smear of actual gritty grey grease. So when Meow acetoned it off, a number fell off the date along with the mintmark.
Meow about a year ago found a quarter with a gummy gooey lump on it. It was an ender of a BU roll. When Meow acetoned that one off, Washington's face came off with it. That one was not grease like this one is.
By the way here is the other "Object still attached" quarter Meow found. It was a Marsh Billings D mint.
I found some "grease" debris with copper flakes in a roll of 1960 cents one time. It let me know that roll had never been opened since it was rolled.
Back a few years ago when I was going through all my accumulated rolls there was a lot of grease in the nooks and crannies of a lot of 1960' Lincoln Cents. Have not seen this on modern coins after the 60's. Right time, place and coin I guess.
Woof, Woof, the dog and Quack, Quack found these for Meow the cat: Struck through clear soft grease: Struck through firm grease, dirt, and metal particles"
