Found this while roll searching this evening. Any theories, good OR outrageous :D, as to why someone would stamp in the 1960 and 1980?

Maybe a tribute to someone, was born in 1960 and passed on in 1980? Just a guess. Can see a few people having real fun with this one. :D

Ultra mint error! List it on ebay with a BIN of $400,000 and don't accept any offers under $350k. ;)

yup.....20 year anniversary of JFK election.....seen them with 1960-1985 also....they are normally "gold" plated...at one time you could buy them from adverts in the paper and magazines.

I have found several dozen in the past copule years.

So they put it onto a 1972? Why on that year? Too impatient to wait for 1980 and save the effort altogether?

    Ridiculous!

The true answer is that this found its way to Canada, and bears the chopmarks of merchants who wanted to be sure it was made of good clad.

I too have found several counter-stamped Kennedys while searching rolls of halves. Some were gold plated, others were polished. The years the coins were minted vary from the early 1970s into the mid 1980s.
