I think I posted this coin in there in the past. I'd like to sell it but I need an opinion/analysis. I can't find anything similar online. -- Is it truly an error coin (I think "yes")? -- If so, what is its approximate worth? I believe it to be a double clip. There is a slight gap between the two parts where the clips occurred indicating that the striking pressure wasn't sufficient to make the two parts join completely. AND There is a Blakesley Effect across the coin from the larger of the two clips. Where can I get a specialist's opinion?
I'm not a specialist, but sure looks like clips to me, so yes, it is an error, but value, who knows? I have no reference materials to world coin errors, so can't help you there.
I'm hoping someone can point me to someone/some place that can answer questions about the coin. Probably some European site. I haven't seen any reference to anything similar.
This is a site that I use, although only to see examples of other found error/varieties http://www.attilacoins.com/Error_Euro_Catalogue.asp
Thanks for the link. I knew of it but forgot to save it for reference. My coin is in there; I remember submitting it.
Try this place. It's European based, and has an entire section dedicated to Euro collecting. http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/
