!987 half

    Hello all i just have a quick question. What is special about any 1987 kennedy half?

    The weren't minted for circulation. Why, then, were they minted? They're still trying to figure that out. :D

    Cash cow. The mint gets more than 50 cents each when sold directly to collectors instead of circulating them through normal channels.

    Both Philadelphia and Denver Mints struck the exact same amount, 2,890,758 in 1987.

    So i guess its the low mintage and who they were made for that gives them their special value other than other regula circulation minted kennedy halfs.

    Well 1983 was the last year Kennedy halves were made for circulation. After that year, they were struck for proof and uncirculated Mint sets.
