Here's a clean and very nicely struck '97-D cent with a little bonus, a nice little die chip in the S in PLURIBUS. Just thought it was good enough to show. Sorry about the color not being true to form, but this Canon Powershot S500 Digital Elph camera isn't exactly my Brownie Starmite II. :D

    Cool !!

A neat collection at face value can be built by looking out for fun freebies like this. Good Eye !!

Thanks big guy. You know, I think of these die chips as birthmarks. And when they're in the right places, as here, I guess they're beauty marks. And there I go getting personally involved, again. But then (rhetorical question, I'm sure), that's half the fun of it, isn't it? ;)

It's a die chip. Nice eye to spot it. It is a overuse of the die to produce the coin.

Thanks Rhubarb. I caught the chip because it's such a beautiful coin. There's not a mark on it and I'll be darned if I can even find a spot. And it's just such a nice strike for this series (too many of these are grease-filled or otherwise weak strikes). And so I went over every nook and cranny with my 10X glass, and, that's how I found the chip. I have another '97-D, just as strong, these could be bookends, but for the die chip. Needless to say, I like this one. But that's how I spotted the chip. Had this been a weak strike, I'd have probably never even got out the loupe on it.
