I saw this today at Southern Pickers, a local antique shop. They are asking $95. It looks pretty cool. All the silver coins look cleaned, but it sure is shiny! LOL. You guys think it's a fair price? All the Kennedys are post '64 silver, except for a 1971, as I recall. There are war nickels in there too. I didn't buy it- just curious.

How do you intend to remove them (the coins) from the Lucite?

Dear God!!!! Why would you ever want to remove them?! This thing is awesome, I just have a feeling the Wife wouldn't let.

I LMBO when I see these from time to time. Living in the woods as I do and having been called a redneck before, I guess whatever floats your boat or anything that floats beneath it. It's too bad so many nice coins got ruined in the process though. Hey, I have two dead lawn tractors as ornaments care of my son.;)

I love it. I have one with fishing lures inside at the cottage. My wife loves it and everyone that uses the toilet comments on it as well.

To me, a toilet seat serves only one purpose,
and fancy decoration is certainly not it.

    funny thing is this:

The coins wouldn't be worth $95 if they were NOT entombed in Lucite. Why are they worth more now?

Because they're not really coins; they're toilet seat decorations.

I don't see the appeal of these types of things, either. :/

And if you did see the appeal you could probably buy the mold and make your own cheaper. (and make more of them for sale.)

You want to decorate your toilet seat?
Put one of those terrycloth covers on it.
You can get those for less than five bucks each.

Personally, I hate those covers. They don't allow
the seat to stay up on its own. If you're standing,
you have to hold it up, and if you're sitting, it rests
    against your back.

Those lucite toilet seats make an awful racket late at night when they slam down!

People sometimes use these or hang them on the bathroom wall as bathroom coin art. $95 ain't bad but I'd try for $70 and settle on $80 if I wanted it. I sold one for around $300 once, used, but clean although it had more Morgan's and older silver coins. The more silver, the better they sell.

I have seen a few of these posted on here but have never mentioned the one I bought about ten years ago. I paid junk silver prices for it and I wanted those silver coins out of it. I tried everything I could think of from a torch to freezing it, sledge hammer and other things. What finally worked (i use "worked" loosely) was drilling around the coin then using a hammer and chisel. Have fun with your purchase if you do decide to buy it.

I see what you're seeing but I certainly hope it's not a proof IHC. Why would you put a coin worth at least multiple hundreds of dollars inside a toilet seat?

These coins are typically whizzed and polished to make them shiny similar to coins in framed wall plaques like this...
