Check this one out, found it Saturday night at work. It's def a strikethrough, but through it's self? What do the experts around here think? Is it worth anything? I think it's nifty, my first strikethrough :)

My idea: The edge of the nickel was corrupted somehow, on the planchet. Opon strike, the corrupted edge came to the surface of the planchet, and was then struck-through the obverse.

This would be a strikethrough self, right? :)

It could be one of several things. 1) A lamination flake that's lifting up. 2) A blanking burr ("rolling fold"). 3) A retained cud. 4) A rim burr. From the look of it, I'd say #1 and #4 are most likely. Only a close examination under a microscope will prove which (if any) of these guesses is correct.
