If someone is familiar with this Vam I would appreciate their advice.
I currently own a PCGS 58 1891 cc Dollar. It is the Spitting Eagle
version but the Vam is not designated on the holder. I intend to sell this coin in the spring and I was wondering if it is worth the expense to have it attributed. It seems to be a rather common Vam, (although it is described as top 100), but auction results seem to be all over the place. Do most Vam collectors look for identified pieces or do they get more interested if they are cherry picking? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Probably the best person to ask would be John, @messydesk .

This one doesn't carry any premium for the variety, being the most common 1891-CC. It's probably not worth resubmitting for the attribution if already slabbed, but if you haven't submitted it yet (selling it raw will cost you more money than selling it unattributed) have it attributed to capture that part of the market which wants to see the designation on the slab.

If you have the far date spitting eagle (VAM 7) however it would carry a nice premium.

Take a look at the date position and the E of LIBERTY. Compare with the pictures of VAM 7 here. If you have a match, then the coin is worth a premium, otherwise, it's not.

Thanks for the information. My coin is not the far date version.
