How did these pits happen?

  2. post strike damage

  3. lamination

    I have seen plating blisters that have opened up, but have never seen one with such deep pitting.

    I don't see how this could be anything but damage/corrosion.

    I have these I found at the beach metal detecting..this is deep!

    Unlike the ones you show.
    The mm is raised in the bottom of the crevice of the obv. Most of the corrosions I see don't have detail in them.

    I agree that it looks like corrosion. I just have never seen one showing a device that deep. Without it being a lamination.
    It peeked my interest.
