Got this in my change today. 1981 P quarter. There is a rim around where the hole is and there is no copper inside the hole, but it is clad. There is copper showing a little on the rim of the hole. Any ideas?
The clip could be explained several ways but none of those ways explain the rim around the hole. Is there any damage on the rim on the opposite side of the coin?
That is not an authentic clip i would say post mint damage ,a real clip would not have a rim around it that;s from some kind of pressure a tool and the coin was put in a vice which made the metal raise like that Jazzcoins Joe
I was thinking post mint as well, but the lack of copper has me confused. There is nothing on the opposite side to show where it was hammered on.
