8 KENNEDY SETS SENT FOR GRADING, CHECK THE RESULTS!

Not a very good sign, me thinks, seeing what grades I got on the 8 sets I sent in to NGC for grading. I imagine that's why we are seeing so many 69 sets out there for sale on eBay. I was a little disappointed as I checked every set and looked at all the coins and they all looked spot on great before I sent them in...with the one set exception that I returned for scratches. I even got one 68 out of these 8 sets. Bummer!! So I guess the mint is still not doing such a great job on minting these Kennedys.

How did you send them sets in? Were they in the original case ?

seems like you got mostly 70's. Not sure why you are disappointed with the results

I just sent the coins in in the capsules after taking them out of the packaging. Only disappointed in the fact that I can only put together 3 complete 70 sets. That's all.

If you just wanted one 70 set (which it seems is all one collector would logically need) why not just buy it in the 70 plastic already? Or, am I just reading this as "you are only able to flip three 70 sets"...

No normal human being (and questionably even graders) can consistently differentiate a 69 from a 70 on these ultra moderns anyway, so I simply don't understand your goals with buying 8 sets and submitting them all (at ~$20/coin) for grading...

To each his/her own I guess...

Maybe the OP is trying to appear cool and nonchalant while busting at the seams because he did so well?

I though there was a limit to five sets.

19Lyds, you better be crying buckets of tears, dude!!!

And yes, the 8 sets will get sold. I kept one ungraded set since I had to return one.

And Salty-Sam, I am cool no matter what anyway, homes!!!

Out of 40 coins, you got 97.5% 69/70's and you're saying the mint is not doing a great job? You're numbers don't suggest that to me.

You apparently "worked" the system a bit anyway, since the sets were supposed to be limited to 5 per household.

I have zero sympathy for you as a "flipper" given the results.

    Cheers.

Wonder what the PCGS results would have been...

There are ways around this stuff like perhaps, a PO Box? I got one. But I didn't use it for these and until PCGS can get there shat together and take these out of the Commemorative Sets and put them where they belong in the Kennedy Sets, I'm not real eager to waste grading funds on the one set I plan on submitting.

I don't hold flipping against anybody since this is what the coin business is made up of. Buy at one price and sell at a higher price. Strictly business.

Why would it matter what PCGS considers them? BTW the mint has them listed under commemoratives...
