I've been trying to find a coin of Constantine IV for a long time but they're either not to be found or outrageously expensive. It features Constantine in what looks like a chain mail suit which is appropriate since he spent a lot of his time (successfully) defending Constantinople from the Arabs under Mucawiya. The reverse is a bit hard to make out but it is a large capital "M" for the denomination flanked by his two brothers and co-emperors,Heraclius and Tiberius. He was also Justinian II's daddy. By the way,I have hundreds of ancient coins and this is only the 3rd from the 7th Century. It is Sear#1209
Mikjo have never seen one of those before mate :thumb: :thumb: thanks ever so much for sharing it with us. De Orc
Nice and hard to find...I would say its in rough shape but I have never seen this coin in good shape so if I compare it to the few examples I have seen its about on par.
Drusus, There is only one example shown on Wildwinds and although the details are easier to see than mine, the coin is in bad shape,i.e. incomplete and broken.I was happy to find this one.
No,that would have been nice because it probably wouldn't have cost me so much.I found it in my coin shop's showcase. They were asking a lot of money for it but I was able to talk them way down because of the condition.:thumb:
