I remember skimming over this coin on Wexlers once and somewhere the mental note was made to look for pre die break depressions above the cowboys hat. Whenever I get a 2007 Wyoming I look for it. Sure enough today, this coin showed it nicely visible with the naked eye. As Ive had time today off and on Ive taken a moment to look for doubling. I also checked out the ridiculous amount of DDRs (76) looking for markers to match. Unfortunately, lots of PMD in the way and I couldnt make out a single "for certain" marker or chip. It appears as if there may be doubling at the bottom of the earlobe BUT in that case, there must be a chip of a certain shape to the left of the mint mark and its either not there or was destroyed by pmd. I made the sad decision its just not a doubled die However, the pre die break depression is still interesting and I was taking pics a long the way so might as well share em! Im saving this one just because it turned out to be such a chore lol! Im never bothering with a Wyoming again unless its so stupid obvious it makes my eyes bleed.
Its an easy one that sticks in memory. Cowboys hats and bottoms of buckets lol. Its like nickels....I cant look at a nickel without checking out the door because it seems to be a common spot for error. The errors that can be seen with the naked eye tend to stick. It can be maddening though with some of the state quarters and the endless variations to go through.
I found this nice die chip and the depression that led to it in a Mint bag of CA SQ's. Unfortunately, I lost my photo of the depression on my old computer when the graphics card died. Condor Doo-Doo
