This guy came into the shop today. A very neat piece of history from my home state.

Sutler tokens IMO have about as much history surrounding them as any coin or token. I had a pretty decent collection of them at one time, but I had to sell them with the rest of my collection six or seven years ago. I don't know if you have access to Schenkman's book on these pieces, but if not it's designated N5B / Curto 254 and an R-8. His guide was published in 1983 so the rarity may have changed by now. Brings back sweet memories Matt. Thanks for posting it.

A very impressive piece and not corroded like so many sutler tokens are. I only have two sutler tokens and I doubt I will get any others, I can't afford to collect them.
