I was at one of my favorite Gas stations this morning when the owner (who looks out for stars for me) says, hey, I got these this morning..you want them? Sure I said 7 $1 Silver Certs with one being a star note. Now these have seen plenty of circulation and are "fine 15" at best...the surprise was the Series 1935 F( B-J Block ) with only 360,000 printed. " Turns out I mis-read the book listing and this is a common note" It has a small right edge paper split on the border..but still a nice note. I do not collect these notes, yet the Series 35 F B-J note will go for around $30-35...as t list at $80 in VF Any of you collect these?? RickieB
Nice haul, Rick. I've got to build some connections like that. I collect any star that comes my way. I'm not interested in small size silver certificates, though.
Rickie, is your 35F B-J $1 SC between serial numbers B71640001J and B72000000J ? I don't collect these, but am fairly familiar with them.
Rickie, how do you find the production numbers for those older notes? I only can find them on newer stars from the star note reference page: http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/
I don't collect modern notes, but I just got a series 2006 $20 Chicago star note from the ATM this morning. Worth keeping, or use it for burritos and beer? Guy
Rickie, my sources, (Standard Guide to Small-Size U.S.Paper Money 9th Edition) tell me that the 1935F $1 SC's between serial number B71640001J and B72000000J are the rare 360,000 notes, and notes below B54000000J are part of the 1.17 billion notes printed that book for about $10-$15 in CH-CU. I can email Scott Lindquist and verify if you would like me to, or if it would help.
Ohhhhh my gosh... I totally missed that Steve.. thanks I just looked it up and that is correct...LOL :thumb: :thumb: Silly me. Corrected my original post...dang, I really need to start wearing my glasses..lol RickieB
I didn't mean to slight any others, RickieB was the first name that came to mind. Sorry for missing the others.
