Looks like one of the class II doubled dies known for that year: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/dietype.php?date=1968&die_mint=d&die_type=do&page=0 Maybe #2?
Thank you very much for the link!!! Mike thinks it may be a DDO as well but I cannot find any of the markers listed on coppercoins. Best Regards, Darryl
Your cent photo does show what looks like a doubled die, note the S of TRUST. Have you checked out the markers for the listed 68D DDO's in the CONECA listings? http://www.conecaonline.org/content/lincolndoubleddies19651969.html#_1968-D Larry Nienaber
Thanks Larry - I have posted additional photos over on Coneca's web site. It is very similar to 002 but seems to me just a little different. It could be just a later stage? The one real difference is the error just above the memorial - http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/68DDDOhorn.jpg I have not seen this described anywhere.?. I believe I will be sending it to Dr. Wiles for attribution. It may be 002 - but I will hope for 004 ...
Congratulations Darryl…there is nothing like getting a letter back from James Wiles and seeing that bold “New Listing”. Larry Nienaber
Thanks guys :hail: It is/was really cool to find something no one else had attributed! Really surprised that something so old had not been identified before. Every collector should find one such coin to have the enjoyment of doing so... Best Regards, Darryl
