I pulled this guy out of a roll this afternoon.

Compared to another 64D I took out of the pile, both have a kind of "seem" along the edge of the profile but this one is so much more pronounced. Is this just how they were struck at the time maybe accentuated by the extra bit of shine that this particular coin has?

AHHH, so you found the Ghost of Lincoln on a coin. :)
Actually I've seen this also but I really don't think it's more than just worn out dies. Possibly Chuck from www.coppercoins.com could explain the entire process.
    Or it is a ghost.

This was in the big cent "shortage" years and the dies were working overtime. I seem to recall reading that this feature, which is common in those years, was because the mint did some relief work on the edges of the bust to extend their useage ( not as sharp of an outline), but I haven't found it yet.
