I'm not a Kennedy collector...but I have noticed that some of the proofs have striation lines just below the ear. Can anyone explain why some do and others do not? Is it a planchet thing? Thanks.

I've seen those striations on hundreds and hundreds of the 64's. I don't know why they are there, but it is common.

It's part of the design. They also appear on many other years.

    Nice looking coin. I can't believe it's only a 64. o_O

I believe he means "1964" in the title. He's not talking about grade.

Both of the '64 Kennedy's I just added to my collection exhibit these lines.

Since the date was obvious I did take the 64 in the title to mean it's grade, especially since the 19 were missing. :)
