Nivce pickup! I believe that the 1899-O is a VAM-6 with the near Date, the 1882-O/S is a VAM-4 MDS because the crossbar is definitely slightly thicker than the ones on the EDS specimens and not as thick as the ones on the LDS specimens (I am not sure that anyone has a MDS specimen to compare them but that is what i believe that it is). I am not really sure but I don't think that the 1900-O is a EDS VAM-29A as the crack is too high on the tail of the "9" and the Date sits a little further to the West than the VAM-29A. I am not sure but it may be a new VAM. Also, note the Die Cracks through a lot of the Reverse lettering and is that a spike protruding from between Miss Liberty's lips!? I can't tell much about the 1928-S.

I'm sorry, guys. But 'VAM' is a new term to me. What does it mean? Thanks. David.

    David,

This is a term given to all Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars but was specifically invented to note the ones that are Errors and/or Varieties! The term (VAM or Van Allen-Marris Variety) and a designation number was thought up by Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis (deceased). For more info and study on what VAMs are and to see pictures and definitions on them, go to the following websites:

I'm leaning towards the 1882O/S being LDS
