I just picked up a 57 proof set, and 59 mint set at a antique store for 27.00 each. I figure it just a little bit over the price of silver. do they have much value beyond silver
as a new collector and of proof sets in particular i would have bought all they had. well as much as i had on me or could borrow at the moment. i have no proof sets with the franklin half but one day, one day, i will
You spent $54 for $65 worth of silver (1.85 Oz @$35/Oz)...then you have some "non-zero" numismatic value to boot...not bad! :thumb: You may have a Type-B Reverse Washington quarter in your Mint set as an added bonus. Mint sets is where you find most of the 1959p Type-B (proof) reverses.
I would say you probably have both a type B quarter and a type II (proof artwork) Franklin half. But 1959 type II's aren't really that scarce.
Wow, Type B's....those would be nice to get on the cheap, huh, yakpoo? But, only if someone was actually willing to follow through on their promise to make the deal.
