Hello everyone. I am new to this site and I am looking for peoples input on a coin I have in my collection. It is a British 1997 50p coin (small size). One side is all smooth and you can see a small imprint on the outer side. I am not sure if the coin is a counterfeit or a mint error. Any knowledge anyone can share with me would be greatly appreciated. I've attached photos I hope you can see them. Thank you in advance!

It looks like it has been ground off.

I agree, it looks smoothed out. If you can weigh it that would solve the mystery.

A quick google search shows that it should weigh 8 grams.
