I got a book called coins of England & the united kindom by spink 2006. I there it says.

" 50p 250th anniversary of the publication of samual johnson's Directory of the English Language. R. An Interpretation of the words "Fifty and Pence" as they appeared in Johnson's dictionary together with denomination "50" and "Johnson's Dictionary 1755"

And on the front too got the saxon if that makes any difference?

Hi, If it looks like this only shinier, you probably have a circulation piece in slightly better condition than the one shown here which is worth about $1.50.
    I hope this helps,
    Have Fun,
    Bill
