501st Post Contest

Howdy Folks!!! Welcome to my first sponsored contest. I decided to make it the 501st in tribute to my home area code, the 501. So here is how the game is going to work:

1. This contest is open to all CT members with more than 25 and less that 2,500 posts.
(note: a thanks to Krispy, I am plagarizing a little here. :thumb

2. There are 12 photos of 12 coins all taken through a 10x stereo microscope.

3. Every photo has a specific number 1 thru 12.

4. Send me a PM telling me what the coins are.
(note: It should look something like this: "#1 Date General Description"and so on.)

5. All correct answers must be submitted before 11:59 pm Central Time 01/22/11.

6. Each member get one answer.

7. Correct answerers will recieve one entry in the drawing.

8. 10 names drawn at random will each win 6 world coins taken from my 5 pound lot.
(note: The 5 pound I bought off eBay and mentioned in my recent posts.)

9. The next name drawn will win 6 world coins with 2 mint state new Afghani coins.

10. The final winner will get 6 world coins and a 29 piece OPA Token set (all but MV).

11. Next Sunday (the 23rd) I will post the list of winners and request mailing addresses.

12. All prizes will be sent by US Mail within a week after the end of the contest.

One thing, before anybody asks. The prizes really aren't anything of much value, just for fun. Also, I want to be able to have more winners and spread the fun around. I will not, however, include any Canada, Mexico, or UK coins as I know I tend to see a ton of them. Also, if you are an international member, I will exclude any coins from your area. I think everyone will be pleased with the cool little prizes I have in store. Again, good luck all!!!

Just wondering, are all of the above coins U.S.?

 

Ratpack7 has hit all 12 right on the head without any hints (good job!), so I don't know if it'd be fair to give hints. At least, not this early in the game. I will add a rule, though. If I dont have at least 12 correct answers by 11:59 pm 01/20/11 Thurday night, I will drop some general hints starting Friday morning. Hopefully, though I won't have to give hints. This game is to test your familiarity and encourage learning about one of my favorite types of coins. :thumb:

 

I think I nailed all of them it was a good thing my dad and I like collecting these type of coins.

BTW thanks for doing this it was very informative trying figuring these all out. I would like to say more but cant think of how to put it without giving hints.

Oh, man!!! Sorry, krispy, I was plagarizing from you with the 25 to 2,500 post limit. That would disqualify you from the contest. I am so sorry. However, krispy and coinmaster1 both have correct answers, and coinmaster1 will have an entry.

 

No worries. I just meant 'thanks for the chance to play along'. I understood that I wasn't eligible for the drawing and was instead just playing along. I'm just glad to know I got them all correct. ^_^

 

Ok, gotcha. Sure, anyone is welcome to play along. That is one of my favorite things about contests, I always seem to learn more than I knew before about coins.
