Well, I've reached the 5000 posts mark and I guess it's time for another contest. This one is going to end in January. The end date will be announced later. This contest is open to all members with 10 posts or more. I'm buying an estate in the next two weeks. I made an offer of $2,500.00 on this a few months ago and it was just accepted. It consists of approx. 1,000 coins and 150 banknotes. The coins are a mixture... a little bit of everything. World, U.S., Canadian, some tokens and just some odds and ends. The banknotes are World and Canadian. I just went through the boxes quickly and gave a price of what I was willing to pay. I didn't check each and every item so there might be a few surprises. The contest is easy. Guess the date of the oldest coin in this collection. One guess per member. Post your guesses here. No duplicate guesses. The winner will be the one who guesses it exactly or is closest without going past the date. (eg. If the coin is 1900 and there are guesses of 1895 and 1901, 1895 will be the winner.) The prize will be the coin. At this point, I don't even know what it is. It could be a penny or it could be a Morgan dollar, or a world coin. It might even be the rarest coin in the collection! Value? Who knows? It's all for fun and one of you might be lucky. *There's no gold so don't get your hopes up. But, there was a lot of silver. When I receive the collection, I will be posting pics of it. The only tips I'll give is that there are no ancients and the original collector was a hoarder and collected everything (not just coins). He wasn't a coin aficionado. I'll end the contest a couple of days past the day I receive the collection. Just so I have time to sort and examine it. Good luck!
