Does anybody know if this coin is worth anything? I found it in my fathers coin collection, which I've inherited. It's in quite good condition.

The coin is from the olympig games 1952, value 500 Finnish Marks.

    Thanks!

Well let's see, it's worth at least it's silver content. I am not too sure how much silver there is, but I am guessing at least half an ounce, which is around 5 dollars or so at the moment. And such coins are getting popular, as it is the first Olympics commemorative coin minted in the world.

Perhaps someone better can explain the full value to you.

Catalogs in Krause 20.00 fine 28.00 very fine and 40.00 in xf 50.00 in unc. It is only 50% silver contains .1929 silver so as bullion pc. only couple bucks or so. Most dealers would probably treat it as a bullion piece unless they have a good market for foriegn coins. Most modern forein coins probably only get anywhere from 10 % to 75% of catalog value, but interesting pieces sometimes do better.

Thanks a lot both of you.

The coin is not as foreign to me as to you, I live i Sweden.
I just didn't think about the fact that it's value probably is different depending on where you are with your coin. Or?

But this was the only coin forum I could find, I didn't find any in Scandinavia!

    Thanks again
