.500 Fine

    I have a britain coin that I bought...

    on the case it says its .500 fine....what does that mean?

    I think on a lot of British Coins, the 500 fine stands for the amount of silver it was struck in. Hopefully some British Collectors could verify that.

    .500 Fine means it is 0.500 (half) silver. 50% silver by weight.
