I'm starting late I know. I have started collecting the 50 State Quarters.
My question to all of you who have collected, did you collect all mints or a certain one?

I collected Philadelphia and Denver from circulation.

    50 states - 1999 thru 2008 (100 coins in an album)
    6 DC and Territories - 2009 (12 coins in 2x2 plastic holders)

I bought the album before they had announced that they would do the six 2009 quarters, so there wasn't a page for them in the album. The brand of album I bought didn't sell an "add on" page for those 6 so I stuck them in individual holders.

Here is the album for the 50 states:

Dansco (for one) makes an album that includes both the 50 states AND the DC & Territories coins.

This makes me recall my early years as a collector. I pretty much started as a kid in the late '60s collecting wheat cents from circulation. I was able to get the late 40s and all of the 50s very easily from circulation (anything earlier was an amazing find at the time - such joy). This corresponds roughly to starting now with the State quarters (i.e. 15+ years after they were last minted).

I wonder how you will do - good luck!

    Thank you for sharing.
I wonder myself how this is going to turn out. I'm going to try and get all mine from circulation, fingers crossed. I have looked over the collection and there are still so many that I have never come across.
Were Denver and Philadelphia mints the only mints to produce the quarters?

State quarter sets are still fun to put together. You can do the Philly and Denver mints from circulation. The SanFran is a silver strike and only minted in proof. You won’t get those from circulation. I believe I have four sets. Two are high grade sets. Another is a set I did from circulation with my boy back when he was a boy. And am putting together another using the Quartermasters counter stamp quarters. The mint hit a home run when they did the state quarters.

Hold onto your extras in case you need to trade
with someone. If you haven't yet, check the
Whitman page for the appropriate album.

I thought about starting the series a few times then passed. The coins seemed to come and go.
Every now and then I run across some in lots that I pick up, they usually end up getting put back into circulation.
I do have some fancy book with an almost complete set of one mint... thinking it was a Denver... Just looked Yup Denver until the last two rows.
    They look Uncirculated.
I was going to hold on to it but looking closer it had Philadelphia in the last few years instead of Denver.
It's not important enough to get put back in the safe:p but the book/holder has more interest than the coins.
Let me know if you want them, it will give you a jump start on your set at a good price.

I bought the Dansco for the Statehood series (added the extra page for the 2009 coins) and found a cheaper Whitman album for the National Parks. Putting the Women's series in flips for now.

Like Corgi said, it's fun collecting pocket change like the old days. I see many of the early issues are showing a lot of circulation wear these days, a nice challenge to find a minty-fresh one. Good luck.

[edit] Sorry for the enormous attachments.

I didn’t start chasing coin until the president dollars. I did have a Wisconsin Leaf (is that a variety?) coin. Wish I had a Duke Ellington error.

I was in my LCS about a year ago and someone came in wanting to sell their uncirculated state collection (P & D) in a Dansco album. The store owner did not want it, so I asked how much he wanted. He said $5 over face value, and I could not get my wallet out any faster.

I have a complete set of circulation issues of both the state and national park quarters in mint state condition. I included all mint marks but only ones issued for circulation. No proofs, special issues or anything like that. Just circulation issues.

There are also clad proofs minted in San Francisco.

No kidding? I thought all the SanFrans were silver. My apologies for posting bad info!

They are all proofs though. Clad and Silver.

Part way through the ATB quarter series (2012) they started minting and selling clad business strikes at San Francisco. Weirdos.

In the State Quarters program the mint issues started producing them with dates from 1999 to 2008. Five different designs were issued each year. Coins were produced by order of their entrance into the union. The obverse side with George Washington with modified slightly to include some wording from the reverse.
Special legislation authorize the change. The theme for each state was proposed and approved by the governor of that state. Final designs were created by Mint personnel. Circulation Coins were made at the Philadelphia and Denver mints. Proof Coins were from San Francisco. A silver coin was also produced at the San Francisco mint bearing the S mint mark. From 2005 to 2010 uncirculated mint sets were made with the satin finish coins. In 2009 the district of Columbia and US territory quarters were made by the Mint under the same guidelines as the state quarters.
America the Beautiful Quarters started in 2010 and ended in 2021. In 2012 San Francisco mint made uncirculated F Mint more quarters and relatively small quantities. They had to be purchased directly from the Mint as they were made for collectors.
Another change occurred in 2019 when the Mint started producing W mint mark quarters. There was a P, D, S Clad Quarter, a S Proof and a Silver Proof Quarter and a W Quarter. Only 2 million were made with the W Mint work for general circulation. This was to spur collector interest and was only done in 2019 and 2020.
In 2021 the Tuskegee airmen national historic site quarter was produced. Also in 2021 the Washington crossing the Delaware quarter was produced.
Future designs starting in 2022 through 2025 includes 5 coins for each year honoring women in certain fields. In 20 2026 they are to be issued with five different designs for the 250th anniversary of independence. One of those designs will represent a woman’s contribution to the Declaration of Independence or any other monumental moments in American history. Summit will produce other coins from the sun to the half dollar, plus a dollar coin that will be used to celebrate the semi quincentennial.
From 2027 to 2030 quarter dollars will be issued five per year for emblematic of sports played by American youth.

I collected both sets. I have both books. I tried to get all of both D and S quarters. Most of them were in great shape. I bought the books from a book store. I got down to the last few quarters and decided to buy the missing quarters through ebay. Both sets were in great shape. I also collected the 2020 W Washington Quarters - WWII Privy Mark V75 Quarters. There were 3 MS65, 1 MS65 and 1 MS64. I'm an oddball collector.

I need to find a trading partner up north so I can have a better chance at completing my collection from circulation. Know anyone that might be interested?
