I found a roll of these once. All were F-EF. I had to take it back to the dealer. It was a mistake on the dealers part. It got mixed in with a large group on Lincoln rolls he sold me. Made a good friend that day. He gave me the roll for being so honest.
Wow. Despite your honesty, that was extremely cool of him! I'd have given you a few more Lincoln rolls! A dealer friend of mine bought a box lot of IHCs once; maybe 4-5 rolls' worth. There was a F-VF 1868 in there. That was the third or fourth great cherrypick I watched him make in the months I helped him out. He was a lucky dude, at least numismatically. He was one of those people who is a bit rough around the edges but whose heart is in the right place. Speaking of honesty, I saw him buy a "junk silver" lot from a little old lady one time. There was an 1895-O Barber dime in there. He could've given her just below melt on it like he did the rest and she would have accepted and been none the wiser, but he gave her a fair wholesale offer on that better-date coin. I'm a believer in the old "what comes around goes around" saying.
