First off I just want to say that this is the coin that really sparked my interest in collecting. It was given to me by a sweet old lady for walking her dog when i was around 8 years old. I liked it becuase it was different and I started keeping all kinds of coins that looked different after that. I never thought much of it, i thought it was just a brass token of some sort, but recently i showed it to a friend and he said the coin appears to be real gold! I really know nothing about it, it reads "United States of America" "Fifty Dollars", and the other side says "Panama Pacific Expodition" "San Fancisco" date-MCIIXV. It's very large...bigger then a morgan dollar, can anyone help???
I think you hit the jackpot if it's real. My 2005 Red Book shows in AU-50 condition it is worth $26,000. In MS-65, $105,000.
A genuine one should weigh in the neighborhood of 80g. If yours has the right weight, and you're sure it isn't one of >>these << get it to one of the major grading services NOW.
yeah, it looks exactly like that one in the link, the only difference is mine isnt that clean...but dont worry im not going to clean it!
