Hey guys just wanted to share my two favorite notes, one is a 1771 north Carolina colonial note I have also heard it called a "pin note". The other is a 1861 5 cent fractional note from north Carolina.

I do not know too much about them due to me being more of an error coin guy....but I would like to learn so anything you can school me on these two types of paper currency would be very appriciated.

I can check on the fractional note for you when I get home from work. As for your colonial, I unfortunately do not have a price guide for colonial issues.

Based upon the scan, it looks as if the North Carolina fractional note is around Very Fine condition. The corners may have been trimmed to make it look a little nicer, but these were notorious for being cut that way when they were produced. In this condition it would be worth around $12. My guide is a few years old, so I would add about 25% to that value.
