Please restore your picture of the obverse.

The reverse is Fine IMHO. (That happens to be my favorite grade for older coins, combining clear evidence of active circulation with attractive appearance.) I also like its nice patina without noticeable "toning" aka corrosion.

All in all, a beautiful coin, despite the evidence of a not-too-recent cleaning..

In the 2001 Third Edition, the 19th Century volume of the Standard Catalog of World Coins gives the following information:
    • Issuer: Kingdom of Naples (one of the Two Sicilies), 1812 Monetary Reform
    • KM#111
    • Diameter: about 35.3mm
    • Weight: 25g
    • Composition: .900 silver
    • ASW: .7234oz.
    • Mintage: 37!
    • Values: F $100, VF $275, XF $550, Unc. $1,200

Surprisingly the 1812 version, with a mintage of 2,921, was valued at $600-5,250 in that same edition.

I have no clue as to possible value changes in the decade since my volume was printed.

After comparing the two images, I am inclined to agree on the fake part, but it may well be a contemporary counterfeit rather than a product of the current Bulgarian or Chinese fake factories.

What is the weight of your example?

BTW this coin has been previously discussed here at CoinTalk.
