According to the Krause catalog there were 2,238,000 minted. The value in VF = $8 and UNC = $40. Very best regards, collect89
According to the book "le Franc VIII" which is one of the two reference books for french modern coinage today, and depending on the mint (check the letter just under the word "centimes" on the reverse), it can vary quite a lot (in €uros) : For 1871 A : B10 = 8, TTB45 = 40 and SPL63 = 180 For 1871 K : B10 = 180, TTB = 700 and SPL63 = 1600 Hope that helps Q
The Krause listing I gave earlier is for the 1871A minted in Paris. In my haste, I did not see that there is also a 5 centimes 1871K minted at Bordeaux. This Bordeaux flavor is listed $100 in fine, $300 in EF, and $500 in UNC. They only made 16,000 of them at the Bordeaux mint. Do you have an A or a K mint mark?
