I'm looking to get one example of each face value for Hawaii and North Africa. That's 7 notes. This is my 6th. This leaves only the $10 Hawaii to get. For the moment this is looking tough. I'm looking for XF-AU but everything I'm currently seeing are graded lower or higher. All of the other varieties (star notes, mules, 1934 series) are way too pricey to consider.
Are you looking to buy only graded notes, or maybe considering a raw note? BK Auction usually has several of the emergency issue notes, some graded, some raw.
Just graded. There are plenty of raw $10 Hawaii notes on eBay, but the graded ones are either less than XF or well up in the MS range. I'm the same way with my coins. I want what I consider grades that show what the coin was intended to look like. But as the price goes up my acceptable grade goes down. EXCEPT if I feel the coin is particularly important to my collection.
