I bought a roll from of wheaties from ebay and while going through them, I noticed this doubling on the reverse.
Does it look like a doubled die strike, or more mech. doubling?

It's machine doubling. Flat and shelf-like. There's no premium for these.

I have to agree, its Maching Doubling. Notice how the width of the letters are all the same but part of its (for the lack of a better word) smashed down.

I have a 39 Nickel that I picked up a while back just so I could photo it and show when coins come up like this.

THis should give you a good idea what to watch for in the Machine Doubling

Tbh, I only noticed the doubling on the letters after I posted the pics. I was mainly wondering about the doubling on the wheat stalks. Looking at them in 3d, it doesn't seem flat like the usual shelf doubling that I've been posting, but this is my first time seeing doubling on the reverse of a wheat. I'll take a second, closer look when I get home though

The area around the wheats aren't from a doubled die.

Here's what a doubled die looks like. Notice the height of the secondary image and notice the notching that indicates another strike as opposed to die deterioration (worn die) or doubling as a result of die chatter.

The major doubled die varieties are easy to spot, like the 72 DDO that you posted...its the other die varieties, like some of those listed in the cherrypickers guide for the same year, or some of the varieties on lincolncentsource.com, or other DD resource sites that are a little more difficult to spot. As well as other variations for other dates...I'm really new to numismatics, so I'm still learning, and I appreciate the input I get when I post questionable specimens :)
