I have had a 1943 dime since i was a kid, that has a raised oval-like bump in the middle of the back that is about 1/8th of an inch long that looks like an embedded piece of copper. With a strong magnifier it looks almost like brown and black swirl, but it could just be dirt and copper.... The silver around it looks affected, like a little mini molten copper meteor fell into it when it was being made..
I have searced the web but havent seen an error described quite like this. My hubby thought maybe it could be shrapnel...
Anyone seen this type of error, know what its called and if it is worth much?
    Thanks so much!

I doubt it is real. Mybe a piece of solder or welding material on it.

You should envision the minting process - the dies must come into contact with the coin to impart the design. If the design is on the entire side but there is a raised blob, how would the die have reached the surface to get the design on the coin (it is not flexible and will not bend around an obstruction)? This logic tells me that the blob was added after it left the mint.
