42 nickel no mint

    Is this silver? Im pretty sure its not but just making sure. Thlere is no mint mark above the monticello

    It is the copper-nickel composition. The metal composition was changed to the silver alloy part way through 1942.

    All of the (35%) silver ones will have the large mint mark above the Monticello. If there is no mint mark, it's not silver and it is from Philadelphia.
