400 Years ago today, November 11, 1620, the Mayflower first landed in Massachusetts (see correction in next post). It landed at Cape Cod. Post a numismatic item that celebrates this event.
Hmmm, it appears this was the "Old Style" calendar. Under our current calendar it would be November 21. In 1582 the Gregorian calendar replaced the Julian calendar in Roman Catholic countries. However, the changeover did not occur in Protestant and Orthodox countries until later. The changeover occurred in England in 1752. Sorry for the foul up.
I think the fairest resolution would be to either bump this thread up again on the 21st, assuming it isn't still active at that point, or start another just like it.
LOL, how do you judge heavy wear on super-high-relief coins? I mean, rim worn into the lettering around the edges generally means AG or G at best (unless you're a 1916-D dime, of course)...
