I'm sure this question has been beat to death but I wanted to get current opinions on this matter:

I have 108 (about 5.5 rolls) of 40% halves from CRH.
Should I try to trade them for 90% coins (rosies or 1964s) or are the 40% halves fine to keep? Eventually, I want to gather enough to cash in. And, if I should trade, can I expect to get an equal trade (oz for oz) of silver? Or will it be lower since I'm trading 40%?

    Thanks for any help.

In a fair trade, you would have to give up 10-25% of silver value to upgrade from 40% junk to 90% junk.

I already have a lot of 90%, so I am going to trade my 40%ers for cash at the next spike ( someday...) - - and ideally, I would turn that into 99.9 fine. Eagles. Provident metals dot com has really good prices, best online I have seen.

    Buy low, sell high.

Post them on Craigslist. I sold a roll of 40% to someone off Craigslist for pennies under spot and went straight to my LCS and bought 90%. The guy aven me me next door from my LCS.

Silver content is silver content. But each time you buy/sell, you lose on premiums or fees to the dealer. I think you should just hold them until you have a reason to buy something else with the money. The silver content provides a floor, whether its 40% or 90%. If you want significant numismatic value added to the silver value, you have to buy something like Morgan dollars.
