This is the 3rd fractional I have purchased The 1st was a bad gold plated fake.. but I knew no better then... the 2nd was a very nice 4k copy but still a copy and 4kvs22k a big difference lol...

Today I finally picked one up that is without a doubt "real" or as real as Cali fractionals get :D

most of sellers pic's were really bad but I could read the slab number so took a look...
You know me, I'm willing to forgive details in most AU or better coins :D
    For a hair over a c-note I'm very happy with it :D

here's the pic that sold the coin (not the sellers lol) Yeah I know pcgs glamor shots are just that but the seller not posting it cost him at least 50 bucks lol
    1854 BG-108.. estimated survival in all grades... 220 :D

I like the Period One (1852-1856) California gold pieces because they were actually used in commerce. Period Two and Period Three pieces were mainly sold as souvenirs.

If you can find a copy of the Breen and Gillio book it would be a valuable addition to your library.

    Nice pick-up, you done good.

Mike Locke used to have an active website on California gold. I think the site is still there but hasn’t been updated in years. Google his name in association with California gold to find the website.
