I went metal detecting the other day and found two of these seen on the link. I've never seen one before. I guess it's a canteen money/token. Did any of you see such a coin before? Since this is the only link on the internet I found with such a token I guess it must be quite a rare one, the opening bid was set on 25€. http://www.lot-tissimo.com/en/cmd/lan/l/en/ Best, Nejc
Can you post a photo of what you have? I don't see anything on that website and specific markings on coins/tokens are critical. The one you found and the one on the site might be quite different.
Here is one I found at that site: http://www.lot-tissimo.com/de/i/241...aus-alu-weinmarke-o-j-zustand-ss-menz-18622-1 This "Neusatz" is probably Novi Sad, Serbia ... Christian
I've seen beer tokens (fairly common for that period, often "Gut fur 1 liter" or something like that). I haven't seen wine tokens though, and I guess the swastika would make them appealing to some collectors (and literally illegal to ship to / own in some countries). It could be worth anything from $1 to $500. Just because you can't find something online (especially with tokens) doesn't mean that it's rare. There could be thousands of these that were brought back as souvenirs by GIs, but small aluminum pieces that weren't issued by a government are often overlooked by numismatists.
GeorgeM, you're right. the beer tokens are quite common, sometimes also SS kantinegeld and similar ones from DAF appear. This is the first one for wine I've seen though. You could be right that there are more out there to be discovered, I'm just saying there aren't any on the web which IMO makes them at least just not that common. Anyway, here it is.
