NGC says they require 3rd party insurance for shipping of coins via UPS or anyone buy USPS.... who offers this the best and how do I go about getting it?
I would assume they are referring to insurance coverage during shipping of the coins to them and back to you (third party because you don't provide insurance and neither do they, a third unbiased party does.) Typically the insurer is the Post Office. In short you have to pay for insurance during mailing. If the package is worth over $700 the cheapest an safest is Registered mail but it is slower. If it is under $700 then insured mail is cheaper and faster, but not as safe. Insured Express or overnight mail are much faster, and much more expensive but no safer than regular insured mail. If your package is over $5000, then you will have to send it Registered because they will not insure regular mail for more than that amount. If it is over $25,000 then you need to get private coverage from an outside firm because $25,000 is the maximum the postal service will payout for a lost registered mail.
