Hey there everybody, I know I need to pick up some books on coins, mints and the mint process, but, I have 3 different coins here that I believe are worth something and I wanted to get some other opinions. Also, I would like to know, for something like the 2004 Wisconsin quarter with the extra lower leaf, that's not supposed to be completely visible from every angle, right? You're supposed to be able to see those things, or a DDO/DDR or RPM's & OMM's from specific angles and stuff like that for the most part,(unless it's extremely prominent: I.E.- 1955 LINCOLN DDO.) correct? Anyways, here is a 2004 Wisconsin quarter that I believe is the right one. I'm going to try to get a picture of it, although that may be hard. Also, I have 2 other quarters that I would like a second opinion on, as well. That picture makes it so you can kind of see it, although how it got upside down, idk, hopefully you guys can work with that. I'll try to take one more picture of it, but, I think that should give you guys a good enough idea I think. Ok, I'm going to try uploading these pictures again, but, if there isn't any more pictures on this one, I'll just start a new thread as a continuation of this one and add them there. Idk why this thing takes forever when I try tobupload a pic, and then I don't usually get it anyways.
The real deal is obvious and quite visible. Your coin appears to have a stain in the same general area, but unfortunately shows no evidence I can see of being the hoped-for variety.
Like Books said, you should be able to see it from any angle, but it is best to take photos from directly overhead. By the way, whenever you goof posting images to a thread, it is not necessary to start a new thread. If you do that, you may get some people posting to the first thread while others post to the second thread. Use the KISS system! Sometimes, you can just edit your original post, and sometimes, you might need to add a new post, but it is much less confusing than starting a second thread. Chris
Ok, thanks for the info, it's just really weird, I can't seem to get a great picture of it, but, when looking at it at a certain angle, I mean, the leaf shows up perfectly, but from dead on, you can't see it at all, that's so weird to me, what kinda weird luck is that.
It should be completely visible as in this photo. Tilting the coin may show a "shadow" image which could be simply die deterioration. IMHO.
To be honest I was never quite sure how the extra low leaf came to be as it is so far away and looks like a variety, more than a doubled die. I've always had a suspicion that one or more dies actually had this as part of the original design and were used until newer dies w/o this leaf were used. The high leaf I can believe.
You know, I read your first response and didn't see the second response, and before I saw it I was just sitting there thinking, how is this a "mistake" it's a freaking extra leaf. Just two different designs, but, that's also coming from a guy that just got into this hobby a month ago. But, I wanted to say thanks for the help/info. There is no way I could have continued in this hobby for very long without this sight to help me get the ins and outs of it.
Hahaha, first part of that post was to tommy and the thank you was to both you guys and this site, not sight. Lol
