so i had decided to goto one of the last dealers i was sort of avoiding because the previous 2 times i had went there i felt ignored. i figured it was time for another look. i noticed a tray of large cents that i had him pull out for me. nothing really caught my eye but he had a second tray in his safe. he had about a dozen classic head and something i had to have - my first flowing hair large cent. its pretty rough but i still couldnt be happier.
    1814 classic head plain 4
    1793 wreath cent

Nice additions - little rough, but they just need a good home. Good pick-ups. Gotta love large cents.

Nice coins! I have a soft spot for old coppers, regardless of condition. Looks like they found a good home.

    the 1814 is a S-295 R1. i believe the flowing hair is a S-6 R3. i havent spent enough time on the 1794 yet.

I like them -- the first two in particular. Congrats on your NEWPs.

That is exactly correct. People who love and collect large cents are a different breed, in my opinion, from people who collect other series. We are more tolerant of imperfections, and not as consumed by whether it will "grade" or not, or whether it is really a F15, or VF20.

Having said that, I think, Lugia that your 1814 and the 1793 S-6 are both quite nice!
Nice finds and i understand why you are happy. The 1794, oh well....that ol' lady has been a couple of times around the block. But even she has got some charm...

The 1793 is definitely an S-6. Can't see the 94 well enough but it is after the mid 40's

...and getting tougher. Early Date large cents and 1790s half cents are true toughies these days. Not to change the subject, but coins like your Barber avatar are getting tough. Mint State business strike Barber halves are in short supply. Heck, there are more proofs out there than business strikes ! Check the Heritage Long Beach auction !
