Been waiting for these since December 19...they finally got here yesterday and I just finished imaging them all. :kewl:
very nice!! i dont know alot about grading morgans, but WOW, the details are nice and crisp!! the shine in her hair on that 2nd coin is stunning!
I'm confused. Are those legitimate slabs? I'm not familiar with them. Even the ANACS slab looks different.
Three great looking coins - even with the thumb print - they would fit well in anyones Morgan collection. - love the toning! Thanks for sharing! Congrats!
other than the thumbprint on the 81s and the ugly toning? on the 1882s near the face those coins are great! did you get them cheaper becuase they are anacs?
Thanks for the comments. Freddy: Looking at the coin in person it is much harder to see, but yes it does have a bit of a print halfway between 10:00 and 11:00. Kanga: Yes, they are legitimate slabs. The first and last coins were certified back when ANACS was still owned by the ANA, and the second one was graded right after the ANA sold it. Jako: I personally love the toning on all three coins (lol, that's why I bought them ) and I love pre-ANACS slabs. I doubt I would even have bought them if they had not been in old ANA/ANACS holders because I do regular ebay searches for ANA holdered morgans. BTW, I wouldn't have paid a cent more for any of these coins even if they were graded by PCGS or NGC instead. After all, it's really the coin that matters and that's mostly what I look at (although, like I said, I love the ANA holders ).
Beautiful toning ! I like ANACS's Morgans. I do think they may have overgraded the 82 a little, but I'd still own it.
The marks aren't nearly so pronounced in person...my camera tends to capture every single thing that reflects light...lol. In hand the grade looks spot on.
You did well, detractors will tend to forget the coin is only about 50X biger on screen, and so are the marks. Very nice coins indeed.
Sweet man! Those are some very awesome looking Morgans, and I'm not a huge fan of Morgans, lol. They are stunning pieces. :thumb: Phoenix
Thanks Jack and pheonix. I'm thinking I'm going to keep the first and last coins [I may sell the second 1881-S...lol, including the 81-S above it I have two higher grade examples of the date already (I have one in MS66 too)]. I'm planning on crossing the first 1881-S and the 1882-S to NGC so I can add them to my registry sets.
