Ok, So These first two I got for $11.. This first one is a Gratian, I got it as an add on: This next one is constans I, I feel in love with the patina on this one, so I picked it up for the Imperial set: AND THE MOJO.... GET READY.... GORDIAN III, VF+ (Makes the EF cut IMO).....This is seriously the nicest ancient I have ever owned (but my Aurelian comes pretty close IMO): PLMK what y'all think stainless
Nice Ancients! I just don't have enough $$ to go around to get everything I like.....one of these days I will start an ancient collection and ignore anything else. Ya, right! Smaugy
I personally like that Gratian. I think you might have me start collecting these man, those are neat. :thumb: Phoenix
This Byzantine coin is one of my favorites, because of how the obverse image wore. Byzantine Justinian (AD 527-565) AE Follis Obverse: Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right, D N IVSTINIANVS PP AVG Reverse: Large letter "M", Small star left, cross top and right, gamma under "M" Exergue: CON (Constantinople mint) Catalog: Sear 158 - Struck AD 527-538 - Size 30mm Note: The "M" is a Greek letter for the number 40. Note: Value 40 nummi. Gamma is the mint officina letter.
I seldom think of ancients in terms of grades...I dont think a small chip in the portrait (a very attractive portrait I might add) would effect the value...in the end, something relative like grades effect prices of coins less in ancient and its more about the eye appeal...the chip doesnt effect the eye appeal IMO thus the effect to worth would be close to nil.
